OUR VALUES

Under the direction of Carla Gallego, Archetypal Dance Collective (ADC) specializes in Free Expression Dance, fostering poetic exploration, creativity, and meaningful social interaction. Guided by the concept of the eternal present, our practice honors the continuous emergence of self, encouraging participants to be fully present both as individuals and as a community. This approach fosters radical acceptance, self-awareness, and the celebration of our authentic selves.
ADC offers a nurturing environment where participants develop physical skills like agility, flexibility, and strength while embracing authenticity, creative sensitivity, and the joy of play. Through this unique blend of movement and self-expression, we promote community connection, resilience, and the empowerment to embody poetic justice amidst societal pressures.
At ADC, we value diversity, creativity, authenticity, and collaboration. By cultivating an inclusive space where every voice and perspective is appreciated, we inspire participants to reimagine new realities through the resilience of creativity. Our immersive, transformative experiences awaken the imagination and offer a fresh, magical perspective on the world.
The History of Archetypal Dance Collective
The Archetypal Dance Collective began as a community project in 2023 under the name Flowseeker. Founded and directed by Carla Gallego, the initiative offered dance classes and workshops to the local community of Mount Alexander Shire. The first sessions took place at the Guildford Community Hall, creating a welcoming space for movement and connection. In the same year, Flowseeker joined forces with the Keep Shining Project, a holistic education and wellness initiative focused exclusively on children. Together, they offered enriching experiences for children, including programs designed to support neurodivergent kids, fostering inclusivity and creativity.

As the project grew, it expanded to include outdoor workshops and seminars in scenic locations such as Yandoit and Fryerstown. These gatherings brought people together to explore themes of self-expression, creativity, and community connection in natural settings.

In 2024, the vision evolved into the Archetypal Dance Collective, solidifying its identity and mission with the work in progress 8(eight). ADC is growing as a platform where creative ideas are able to connect the community in a safe, creative space where individuals can freely express themselves, reflect on shared themes, and foster resilience.
At the end of 2024, Carla was invited to lead an Earth Dance movement workshop with the art collective Neon Ochre Collective. This was another wonderful opportunity to connect the community in the natural surroundings of Arisaig Wellness Retreat, Yandoit.

In Term 1 2025, Carla offered regular Contemporary and Free Expresion Dance Classes. Was invited to participate at the Internation Womans Day event in Nothern Arts Hotel and on the Halaqa Gathering (multicultural variete) to showcase part of her interactive perfomance from the 8 project developed in 2024 by her and her crew creating a consistent space for connection, movement, and growth.

Additionally, Carla is collaborating with Mitch Dillon, a local artist and sound producer, on an exciting project that explores the intersection of Permaculture concepts and conscious movement, bringing together sustainability and embodied awareness. and will be offering a Live Music Contemporary Dance Performance with Matt Faisander for the community this upcoming april 12th at the Unity Church, Castlemaine.
