We opened the session by grounding ourselves in the energies of Cancer and Capricorn—two cardinal signs that mark pivotal moments in the astrological wheel: Cancer, the deep root of origin and home; Capricorn, the high point of purpose and structure.
The warm-up was soft yet intentional. We began with circular hip motions, gentle chest expansions, and undulations of the spine. Our breath moved deep into the belly, calling in Cancer’s emotional body. Then, slowly, we transitioned to more grounded movements—activating legs, aligning the spine, feeling the bones beneath the muscles. Capricorn was arriving.
We dropped into the essence of Cancer: nurturing, emotional, womb-centered. In Child’s Pose, we rested, cradled by the ground. We moved like waves—fluid, vulnerable, cradling invisible children in our arms. Movements expanded and contracted like breath in the belly. We danced as though remembering where we come from, exploring softness without collapsing, tenderness with presence.
Then, the energy began to shift.
We rose to meet Capricorn. Rooted in Mountain Pose, we called on our inner architecture. Our spines lengthened, our joints held us tall, and our gaze lifted to the horizon. This was not just standing—it was aspiring. Every posture a reminder that we build who we become.
We worked with classical alignment, strengthening legs, joints, and core. Repetitions built discipline. We stepped forward into our structure. Where Cancer flowed, Capricorn carved. Where Cancer nurtured, Capricorn forged.
In the second part of class, we moved between these energies. One partner danced as the root (Cancer), the other as the summit (Capricorn). One pulled inward, the other stretched outward. The tension between support and ambition, between feeling and form, played out in embodied duet.
To integrate, we wrote short movement sequences reflecting this polarity. Some began in the fetal position and grew into standing lines. Others reversed the journey, showing how strength folds into care.
We ended by gathering in a circle.
This time, our questions were:
Where is your emotional home in the body?
How do you build the structure needed to protect it?
When do you feel like you are “coming from” somewhere?
And when are you called to “head toward” something greater?
Cancer roots us. Capricorn lifts us.
One remembers, one achieves. One nurtures the seed, the other climbs to bloom.
Where are you on the path today?
See you next time for another embodiment of the stars ✨
